For the 55th consecutive year, KYDON SPORTS CLUB, has the great privilege of organising the international track & field meeting VENIZELIA 2003.

This event, which first begun 67 years old and is dedicated to the memory of the Ethnarch Eleftherios Venizelos, has recieved the recognition it deserved, at the top position of EAA track and field events. Both the response of the athletes taking part, as well as the interest of Greek and foreign Media, have given VENIZELIA the glamour of a spectacular sports event.

However, there is one more important dimension in VENIZELIA. We are just 14 months away from 2004 and Greece is getting ready to host the great Olympic Games event. Greek and foreign athletes are competing, with their eyes turned to this international celebration of Sports. A celebration where not only victory is honoured but also noble emulation, the civility of participating and competing. Undoubtedly, the contribution of such internationally acclaimed meetings is a valuable asset in the course of our Olympic preparations.

This year, like in all past events, the hundreds of fans that will fill the stadium HELENA VENIZELOU, shall have the pleasure to cheer and applaud the foreign and the Greek champions who will undoubtedly thrill us with outstanding perfomances and new records.

I would like to wish to all athletes the best of luck, hoping that the noble contest of athletes in the track will become a message of peace and creative competition in the battle of life.
